Description

The project covered the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in the Adiyaman Municipality, as well as a separated wastewater network system and the construction of the first pumping station. The project also covered a leak detection and non-revenue water programme which eventually decrease energy consumption and now contributes to mitigate climate change.
All things considered, the project improved quality of water resources by reducing the portion of untreated wastewater, ensured adequate sanitation services, and increased water use efficiency.
The project had two main purposes:

  • Provide technical assistance to the Adiyaman Municipality and their Project Implementation Unit through administrative, financial and technically targeted and effective capacity building in water- and sanitation-related activities and assisting the Municipality in operating an efficient water and wastewater department.
  • Provision of supervision for construction of wastewater collection mains and construction of first stage of the wastewater treatment plant and discharge line.
